Comments: The first volume of Baum's most successful pseudonymous series. It is the story of three teenage cousins, Louise, Beth and Patsy, rivals for the estate of their rich and elderly Aunt Jane, who is aware that she will not live much longer. Their enforced stay with their Aunt changes all the girls for the better, and a happy ending is provided by Aunt Jane's brother, Uncle John, the prodigal returned after a long absence in which he made his fortune. |
