Comments: This was written just before Thompson took over as Royal Historian of Oz and there is an imaginative flair to the rhymes. The illustrations are really fun with lots of tiny elfin characters living among the gigantic everyday things and other animals, such as huge mice. Twenty-five chapters in verse about the marvelous elflike peoples from the village of Perhaps. They are a wee folk with pointed ears and toes and a happy lot it seems. "All of one mind and anxious to find/The land where the children are!" |
