Comments: Written in 1963, translated to English by Mary G. Langford in 1969. Alexander Melentivich Volkov first adapted the Wizard of Oz in 1939 as The Wizard of the Emerald City, and gave it a decidedly Russian flavor. This sequel which translates into "Oorfene Duece" is titled as above. The heroine in this case is Ellie and her little dog Totoshka. We meet Oorfene who with the Powder of Life brings wooden soldiers to conquer Oz. With the help of Charlie Blake a one legged sailor can Oz be saved? |
