Comments: A collection of delightful poems from the second historian of Oz. The Scarecrow, the Hungry Tiger, Tik-Tok, Kabumpo, the Wizard. and even the Soldier with the Green Whiskers are among the characters to have their own poems in this volume. A few appeared in the pages of early issues of The Baum Bugle, but most are here for the first time. The illustrations add to the pleasure of the book. These poems about Oz characters and situations are probably the last of Ruth Plumly Thompson’s Oz fiction writing. |
