Comments: In ‘The Gray Queen of Oz’ del Dardano writes for the first time in a pre-existing franchise. His approach is to scrupulously maintain the canon of the L Frank Baum Oz Books in the public domain, but to also expand the universe and incorporate Anime elements. All magic done in the Land of Oz has a shadow side. This is often dissolved. However, over the ages these shades gathered in the atmosphere and emerged as the powerful figure of the Gray Queen who is set on the destruction of all Oz. Unable to use their own magic, Princess Ozma and all of Oz must depend on the 13 year old boy Flip who worked in a kitchen of the Emerald City his whole life to accomplish the Quest to the far north to acquire a special plant and to defeat the Gray Queen. But, can a boy who is something of a brat do this and learn what he must to grow? |
