Comments: Chang Wang Woe was born in Beijing, China, in the 1840s. An athletic street rat, he becomes adept at pick-pocketing and stealing from local merchants. His family moves to Hong Kong when the emperor makes the inteligencia into farmers. Continuing his thieving ways, he gets caught and is sentenced to Van Diemen’s Land. The convict ship he is on is borded by pirates and he is made into a slave. He earns his freedom and joins the crew. Later he escapes and meets his future partner, Ocasr Diggs. After being conscripted into the Union Army to serve as balloonists, he gets transported to Oz during a terrible Civil War battle. After a fight with the Giant Chasm Dragon, he sacrifices himself and falls... all the way to the Silver Islands, under the land of Oz. He meets men with long noses, magic ink tattoos, cowardly dragon-headed lions and his soulmate Tsing Tsing. After many adventures, Woe rises to become emperor. Magic is involved—of course!
