Comments: Using the combined power of the Magic Picture and the Magic Belt, Ozma and her friends first rescue John Wellington Wells from the underground dungeons of Ahrimanes. Then, finding the same power can cut through time, Dorothy half accidentally brings Sir Denys Murgatroyd, who at twelve years old has just come into the accursed Ruddigore title, and his younger sister to Oz from Cornwall, England, in the year 1678. Unfortunately, this upsets the time line in unpredictable ways – for instance, both the Wizard and the Tin Woodman disappear from Oztory as it used to be known. Who may be next? Also, both Murgatoryd children have the strange Ruddigore knack of enlivening pictures and statues by gazing at them. Meanwhile Ahrimanes has sent one of his demons, Hexalsprif, to find and recapture John Wellington Wells. At last, it falls on Sir Denys to prove that the good magic of the Fairy Queen Lurline is more powerful than the evil magic of the demonic Lord Ahrimanes. |
