Comments: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz has fascinated children and adults for over a century. But how many have actually read the book that led to the iconic film version featuring Judy Garland? And even more importantly, is the film a reasonable representation of L. Frank Baum’s book? Ronald K. Ford, an author and poet, loved the book as a child and decided to take a closer look at the “original” tale of Oz, and carefully compared the film with the book. He noted the adaptations and omissions that were needed to create the film. As another of his intense interests is poetry, he decided to write OZtory in Verse, and he related his poem as closely as possible to the original story in poetical form. Children and adults alike will enjoy this fresh telling of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. |
