Comments: Loosely based on the Wizard of Oz by L Frank Baum, this musical drags in many fairy tale characters all into the one musical pantomime. It was first performed in the early 1980's in a small school of around 30 students and has been performed in schools of around 450 students and many others in between. It uses the music from classical composers and allows dance routines for students of all ages. Written well before Shrek burst on the scene, it has the interplay between characters such Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs, Rumplestiltskin and others who join in the fun with characters from The Wizard of Oz. Laced with puns and able to be adapted easily to allow some gentle ribbing of people within any school, this musical can be a whole school performance for primary school children. It could easily be adapted for secondary schools too. |
