Comments:
The tenth volume in this series. A party of philanthropic Americans decide to embark on an errand of mercy to aid the wounded foreign soldiers of World War I. Included in this group are John Merrick, Patsy Doyle, Beth De Graf, Maud Stanton, A. Jones and Dr. Gys. To conform to current developments in World War I, Baum updated his story by adding four new chapters. A new character, Charlie Holmes is introduced in the final chapters and is terribly wounded. John Merrick sets up a field hospital in France and Beth is engaged to Dr. Gys. Patsy and A. Jones, imply that they will marry when the war ends.
