West of Oz is a Wild West / Fantasy retelling of L. Frank Baum's original novel "The Wonderful Wizard of OZ". It's a 9-Issue comic series. Issue #1 saw Dorothy arrive in the weird and wonderful land of OZ, where she teamed up with an animated Scarecrow and set out along the Golden Rail, on a journey to the Emerald City. In Issue #2, Dorothy and Scarecrow travel through a haunted forest on their journey to the Emerald City. Spooky adventure ensues as they wander into an abandoned old mansion, and encounter things that go bump in the night! Dorothy and Scarecrow are joined on their travels by another companion in Issue #3. With Nick Chopper along, they help a carnival plagued by a vicious beast that stalks the surrounding wood. These first 3 Issues make up ACT I of the story. At the close of Issue #3, Dorothy, Scarecrow, the Woodsman, and the Lion will all be traveling on their way together down the Golden Rail, toward their arrival at the Emerald City in Volume 2!
