Comments: This wonderful work by WW Denslow is a tongue in cheek story about Humpty's son. Humpty-Dumpty was a smooth, round little chap, with a winning smile and a great golden heart in his broad breast. Only one thing troubled Humpty, and that was that he might fall and crack his thin, white skin. He wished to be hard. All the way through... For he felt his heart wobble when he walked or ran about. And that was scary. So off he went to the Black Hen for advice. Denslow illustrated many children's books, probably the best known being Frank Baum's 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz'. He also published several children's books of his own, including Mother Goose in 1901. It is from this that the delightful story of Humpty’s son has been taken. However, the grammar and illustrations do not suit children of today. Both are viewed as being boring in our fast paced lives. So, I have taken the liberty of making changes to both to bring the funny story and quirky ways of Humpty’s Son to life for a more modern audience. Learn more about Humpty’s Son and his travels. |
