The ninth volume in this series. Patsy, Beth, and Uncle John are staying at Louise's ranch in Southern California. There they meet the beautiful film actress Maud Stanton, her sister Florence, and their Aunt, Mrs. Montrose, as well as an enormously wealthy young man named A. Jones. Jones and the nieces plan to become business partners in a venture to produce motion pictures designed for children and to construct twenty theaters to screen the films. Jones, who owns a collection of valuable pearls, and happens to resemble an international jewel thief, is threatened with extradition to stand trial in Europe. Unlce John hires attorney Fred Colby to defend him, and the nieces must prove that the authorities have the wrong man.
