Comments: The classic children's story grows up in this tale of discovery. If you've only seen the movie and never read the books, you've missed a lot. Jacob is a drag queen from Ohio dressed as Dorothy Gale and getting ready for a show when a twister picks up his apartment and transports him into the book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Jacob decides to go along with what has happened and continues pretend to be Dorothy to play his role of a lifetime. This is made easy because the people of Oz take everything at face value. But Oz is not quite like Jacob remembers. The longer he stays in the land of Oz, the more he gets confused with fiction and reality, with his role and his true self. |
