Comments: Tamawaca is an anagram for Macatawa, the resort on Lake Michigan where Baum wrote many of his books and the setting of this "summer comedy". Baum briefly appears in this satire as Mr. Wright. The pseudonym is a variation on the name of John Esten Cooke, a well-known Romantic novelist, and this book was privately printed. |
